Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team (CRHTT)

Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team (CRHTT) can:

  • Stabilise mental health crises quickly and safely.
  • Avoid unnecessary hospital admissions by providing care at home.
  • Facilitate early discharge from inpatient units by offering continued support at home.
  • We provide a 24/7 rapid response to individuals in acute psychological distress.

CRHTTs typically support individuals who are:

  • Experiencing severe symptoms of mental illness (for example, psychosis, suicidal ideation, acute anxiety or depression).
  • At risk of self-harm or harm to others.
  • In need of urgent mental health support but do not require inpatient admission (or are being discharged from hospital).

They offer:

  • Comprehensive mental health assessments.
  • Daily or frequent home visits by mental health professionals (nurses, psychiatrists, social workers).
  • Medication management and monitoring.
  • Risk assessments and creation of safety/crisis plans.
  • Support for families and carers.
  • Coordination with other services (GPs, community mental health teams, social care).
